 major tragedy jolted New Delhi’s Vivek Vihar after a massive fire broke out at a New Born Baby Care Hospital, killing six newborns. According to the Delhi Fire Department, the tragic incident  took place  in the late hours of Saturday.

The department stated that a total of 12 children were rescued from the  area  out of which six lost their lives. One of the newborns is on a ventilator  and  five  are admitted  to a nearby hospital. The authorities later clarified that the rescued newborns  were shifted  to East Delhi Advance NICU hospital, ANI reported.

The video of the tragic incident stirred a storm on social media.  In the  video circulating online, the fiery blaze can  be seen galloping through the whole building as the fire department rushed to control the fire. 

2 buildings were affected by the fire

The authorities noted that the two buildings were affected by the Saturday fire. “At 11:32 pm, Fire Service Control Room received information that fire broke out at a hospital…total 16 fire tenders reached the spot and fire has been extinguished completely,” Fire Officer Rajesh said  in a statement 

“2 buildings were affected by the fire, one  is the hospital building and  2  floors of a residential building on the right side also caught fire…11-12 people were rescued and they were  taken  to hospital.  Further details will be shared  later,” he added.  

The incident came  shortly  after a massive fire broke out in Gujarat’s Rajkot. The fire that swept through the gaming zone killed 27 people. Meanwhile, the cause of the Delhi fire is yet to  be ascertained
