Narendra Modi is likely take oath as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive time on Sunday, June 9 around 6 pm.

Earlier, it was reported that Modi is expected to swear in June 8 (Saturday).

News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that Modi’s swearing-in ceremony may take place on June 9 at 6 pm… official confirmation on the final date is awaited.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are expected to meet President Droupadi Murmu on Friday, June 7, post noon and stake claim to form the government.

On Wednesday, Modi had resigned and submitted his letter to President Murmu who accepted his resignation and urged him to continue in his post till the new government assumed office.

Several world leaders including Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay, Mauritius Pravind Jugnauth are expected to attend Modi’s swearing-in ceremony.

The oath taking ceremony will take place at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Modi will assume office as Prime Minister for the third consecutive time, following BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) securing victory on 292 of the 543 seats. The majority threshold in the Lok Sabha is 272.

On Wednesday evening, the NDA unanimously passed a resolution to elect Narendra Modi as their leader for the third time. This decision was taken during a crucial meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in the national capital on June 5.
