Bad Boys franchise enjoys a cult following among cinegoers across the globe for the camaraderie between two leads Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, breathtaking action sequences and entertaining plot.
The 4th instalment of the franchise, which has garnered excitement with its trailer has finally released today. Well, does it hit the right chord with the audience like its previous parts? Let’s find out…
Talking about the plot, cop buddies Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) explore the theories that frame the late Captain Howard (Joe Pantoliano) as being involved with the Romanian mafia following his death. Howard had been a respected figure for Mike and Marcus and the duo starts their investigation in the conspiracy thriller, centering on corrupt cops and cartels.
Undoubtedly, the plot is simple but what makes it extraordinary is the pace, the amazing chemistry between its leads and hilarious writing and situations.
In the era, where audiences have been exposed to cerebral stuff including biopics on geniuses and MCU and DC films, this cop comedy comes out as a refreshing and rejuvenating detox.
After his controversial slap incident at the Oscars , Will Smith has returned in the most likeable form with his star persona and exploring various emotions with finesse. However, the original and real star of Bad Boys 4 is Martin Lawrence, who hits the ball out of the part with his impeccable comic timing.
Martin’s screen presence, dialogue delivery, and facial expression are top-notch, and he even makes a non-offensive racial humour. The emotional roller-coaster between two friends interjects the plot but doesn’t hamper the pace.
Jacob Scipio as Armando does a good job as Mike’s son and his emotional expressions makes a special place in your heart.
Bad Boys 4 gives an entertaining 90s vibe with a tribute to friendship and brotherhood. On the whole, it is a delightful affair.
