BCCI announce cash rewards for 'unsung heroes' of IPL 2024

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah announce cash rewards for the ground staff and curators for all venues used during the Indian Premier League (IPL) that concluded on Sunday.

It includes the ten venues of all the IPL teams and three additional venues: Dr YS Rajashekar Reddy ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, where Delhi Capitals played two ‘home’ games, the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala, where Punjab Kings played two matches and the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, which became home for the Rajasthan Royals in the latter stages.

“The unsung heroes of our successful T20 season are the incredible ground staff who worked tirelessly to provide brilliant pitches, even in difficult weather conditions,” Shah wrote on X.

“As a token of our appreciation, the groundsmen and curators at the 10 regular IPL venues will receive INR 25 lakhs each, and the same at the 3 additional venues will get INR 10 lakhs each. Thank you for your dedication and hard work.”

The traditional home venues for the teams are: Eden Gardens (Kolkata Knight Riders), Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium (Sunrisers Hyderabad), Sawai Mansingh Stadium (Rajasthan Royals), M Chinnaswamy Stadium (Royal Challengers Bengaluru), M A Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai Super Kings), Arun Jaitely Stadium (Delhi Capitals), Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium (Lucknow Super Giants), Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium (Gujarat Titans), Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur (Punjab Kings) and Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai Indians).

IPL, which got underway on 22 March, culminated on Sunday with Kolkata Knight Riders lifting the trophy for the third time following a comprehensive eight-wicket win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
