Delhi has been battling a brutal heatwave, with temperatures reaching close to 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit). Yesterday, reports emerged that the city had broken its all-time heat record, with a reading of 52.9 degrees Celsius (127.22 degrees Fahrenheit) in Mungeshpur - a record-high not just for the national capital but the whole country. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) later clarified that this reading was inaccurate due to a censor error. The actual high temperatures across Delhi ranged from 45.2 degrees Celsius (113.36 degrees Fahrenheit) to 49.1 degrees Celsius (120.38 degrees Fahrenheit). Today, New Delhi also reported its first death due to heatwave. Heatwave is also triggering forest fires in parts of India, which used to be a rare occurrence earlier. Palki Sharma tells you more.
