Mexico Elects Claudia Sheinbaum as First-Ever Woman President

The people of Mexico have elected Claudia Sheinbaum of the Morena Party as the first female president of the country. She will be the first woman to rule the country in its 200-year history. The 61-year-old climate scientist and academic has previously served as the head of government of Mexico City. One of the first challenges she will face in office would be rowing drug cartel violence- which also plagued this year's election- and high homicide rates. She will also have to manage delicate relations with neighbouring United States over the issues of migration, narco-trafficking, human trafficking, and arms flow.
