Terming the last 10 years as India’s decade and century, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the country has arrived on the global stage across sectors.
“Whether it is space or solar energy, sports or startups, the world is seeing India arrive,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during an interview with The Economic Times.
He also said that as a trusted member of various international forums and trade agreements, India is poised to leverage global markets and attract international partnerships.
Mantra of reforms
Complimenting the reforms in banking, foreign direct investment, compliances, corporate taxation, income taxes and fiscal policy among others, Prime Minister Modi said that these exercises have put India on an “economic sweet spot.”
“The demographic sweet spot that India is in has not been seen in the past and will not be seen in future,” Prime Minister Modi told The Economic Times.
Prime Minister Modi said that “demography, democracy, demand are with India” which have been empowered through “reform, perform, transform.”
The prime minister said that apart from being the fastest growing economy for years now, record FDIs have also fostered “an environment where investment, industry and innovation can thrive.”
“This helped 25 crore people rise above poverty, creating a neo-middle class that is hopeful and aspirational. These people are driving new patterns of income generation and demand, powering the wheels of the economy even further,” Prime Minister Modi told The Economic Times.
He also said that rapid digital transformation is helping create a new wave of innovation and empowerment. Prime Minister Modi also pointed out at the rising number of airports and national highways while showcasing his government’s achievement in creating physical infrastructure.
Bringing attention to the academic sector, he said that the number of medical colleges, schools, colleges and universities have gone up throughout the country in the last 10 years.
