Kedarnath Mobile Ban:  Which temples do not allow phones inside the premises

The Uttarakhand government has prohibited the use of mobile phones within a 200-meter radius around the Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri temples owing to increased visitor traffic at these venerated places.

In December 2022, the Tamil Nadu government prohibited pilgrims from using mobile phones in temples throughout the state “to maintain the purity and sanctity of temples.”

Phones are not allowed within Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple, Sri Krishna Temple in Guruvayur, or Sri Venkateswara Temple.

The Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple in Tamil Nadu’s Dindigul district has forbidden pilgrims from carrying cell phones.

For security concerns, visitors are not permitted to bring their cell phones into the Akshardham Temple. The shrine, an architectural masterpiece, has strong security precautions in place.

Mobile phones are banned at the Ram Janmabhoomi compound in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. Mobile phones, cameras, watches, belts, and other electrical devices are not permitted here.
