Narendra Modi is likely to take oath as the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive time on Saturday, June 8.
Sources in BJP told News18 that Modi will take oath as the Prime Minister in the evening of June 8 at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Modi will be the second leader to retain power for a third consecutive term after former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
As per reports, the new Council of Union Ministers will also take oath on the same day, June 8.
Earlier on Wednesday (June 5), the 17th Lok Sabha Cabinet recommended its dissolution.
During the Union Cabinet meeting, PM Modi took stock of the Lok Sabha election results and discussed matters related to the formation of the next government.
In the last meeting of the Modi 2.0 Council of Ministers, it was also recommend the dissolution of the current Lok Sabha whose term ends on June 16.
BJP, PM Modi’s party, has bagged 240 of 543 seats but could not make it to the half-way mark by itself.
However, the alliance - NDA - led by the BJP has won on 292 seats which gave it a clear majority to form the government for the third consecutive term.
Senior NDA leaders congregate in New Delhi
Meanwhile, all the senior leaders of NDA, including JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president Chandrababu Naidu, have arrived in the national capital for a crucial meeting of the alliance which is underway.
During the meeting, the alliance leaders are likely to deliberate on the details of government formation.
