Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday said that Israel was “prepared for a very intense operation” along the border with Lebanon, where Israeli troops have exchanged near-daily fire with Hezbollah fighters.
Netanyahu toured the country’s northern boundary with Lebanon on Wednesday.
According to i24 News, during his visit to the ‘Hero’ camp, Netanyahu was briefed on operational situation, recent events in the sector, the defence battle, and ongoing efforts to protect northern settlements and residents.
The Prime Minister was also updated on the brigade and Northern Command’s operations against Hezbollah’s infrastructure and terrorists in southern Lebanon, the report added.
Warning against any attacks on Israel, Netanyahu said, “Whoever thinks that he will hurt us and we will sit idly by is making a big mistake. We are prepared for very strong action in the north. One way or another, we will restore security to the north.”
The Prime Minister was accompanied by National Security Advisor Tzachi Braverman and Military Secretary General Roman Goffman.
More 400 people have been killed in Lebanon, most of them fighters but also including more than 70 civilians and noncombatants. In Israel, 15 soldiers and 10 civilians have been killed since October.
Tens of thousands of people have been displaced on both sides of the border.
