The BJP-led NDA has secured an absolute majority in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by winning 292 seats. Results of all 543 Lok Sabha seats have been declared. The BJP alone has won 240 seats. Telugu Desam has secured 16 seats and JD(U) 12.
The I.N.D.I.A bloc has bagged 233 seats. Others have won 18 seats in the lower house of Parliament. The Congress secured 99 seats. Samajwadi Party got 37 seats while Trinamool Congress 29. DMK managed to win 22 seats.
Despite setbacks for the BJP in these elections, the party managed to secure all seats in Madhya Pradesh (29 seats), Himachal Pradesh (4 seats), Delhi (7 seats), Uttarakhand (5 seats), and Tripura (2 seats).
Madhya Pradesh: With a clean sweep of 29 out of 29 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, the underlying message remains clear: Madhya Pradesh continues to be an infallible stronghold for the BJP, much like Gujarat. In 2019, the only seat the BJP lost was Chhindwara, which went to Nakul Nath, son of former CM and Congress stalwart Kamal Nath.
Delhi: BJP has won all seven seats in the national, capital. BJP’s poll debutant Yogendra Chandoliya trounced Congress’ Udit Raj by over 2.90 lakh votes in the North West Delhi Lok Sabha seat, registering the highest victory margin among the seven winning candidates of the party in the national capital.
Himachal Pradesh: The BJP has won all 4 seats in Himachal Pradesh. Union Minister Anurag Thakur, secured the Hamirpur seat for the fifth consecutive time. Actor Kangana Ranaut and Rajiv Bharadwaj made their political debuts from Mandi and Kangra seats, respectively, while former BJP state president Suresh Kashyap retained his Shimla seat.
Chhattisgarh: The BJP clinched 10 out of the 11 Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh as the general election results were announced on June 4. This outcome reinforces the BJP’s long-standing dominance in the state’s general elections over the past two decades, regardless of the national political landscape. Among the notable defeats was former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel of the Congress, who lost to sitting BJP MP Santosh Pandey in the Rajnandgaon seat by nearly 44,411 votes.
Odisha: The BJP has secured 20 out of 21 seats while Congress got one in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Whereas in the state Assembly elections 2024, the BJP secured the majority mark with 78 seats while BJD won 51 seats. In the 2019 assembly elections, the Naveen Patnaik-led party had won 113 seats.
Uttarakhand: The BJP has won all five parliamentary seats in the state. The 2024 Indian general election in Uttarakhand was held on 19 April 2024 during the first phase.
