There has to be something about the fascinating story of Ramayana that continues to inspire filmmakers. Budgets flow like wine and visuals drop like pearls in both animated and real adaptations and versions. The Legend Of Hanuman has now returned with season 4 and in between these three years, we had to bear the calamity that Adipurush was and debate about Ranbir Kapoor playing Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus. What cannot be argued is how booming and effective Sharad Kelkar’s voice is, whose life changed as drastically as Prabhas’ when he voiced for the actor in the historic Baahubali franchise. What also work for this franchise are the neat and fun special effects, that will cater to all age groups.

Instead of making one overlong and exhausting series that tells the story of Lord Hanuman, creators Sharad Devarajan, Jeevan J. Kang, Charuvi Agrawal do a fine job of breaking the story into multiple series. We are now onto number four. This time, we get to witness Kumbhkaran’s entry in the battle between Ram and Raavana. Unlike the disaster mentioned above filmed by Om Raut, The Legend Of Hanuman drives home some effective dialogues that we don’t get to hear today. Today’s generation of filmmakers are so obsessed by the West, their inability to write one good line in Hindi reflects in their repertoire.

Raavan’s portrayal

This is an immortal character that has lived for thousands of years and has become numb to the sense of mortality. Because Lord Hanuman has learned all these lessons from Lord Ram, he has the tendency to embark on this journey. Our story is a very unique one. As we move on to season three, we see the face off being these two immortal beings.

The idea behind the series

Talking about the idea of The Legend of Hanuman , the creator Sharad revealed, “The story has always been deeply personal to me, I grew up reading mythologies. This was a a journey that shaped me throughout my life; the most important lesson I learned is that the true definition of a hero is not defined by his physical prowess but his inner faith and courage. This was the perfect balance that Lord Hanuman had. This is the aspiration we all strive for. These were the lessons I wanted to bring to the word in a unique way by a visual medium. It’s been a long labour of love.”
