Uganda not only secured their first-ever ICC Men’s T20 World Cup win on Thursday but off-spinner Frank Nsubuga also entered the records book with the most economical four-over spell in the tournament’s history. 43-year-old Nsubuga gave away just four runs in four overs and took two wickets as Uganda defeated Papua New Guinea by three wickets in a Group C match in Guyana.

Nsubuga also took two wickets and registered a miser economy rate of just 1.
The Uganda spinner is also the second-most oldest player to take a wicket in the T20 World Cup. The record belongs to Hong Kong’s RJ Campbell who was 44 when he took wickets during the 2016 World Cup.
“My first big tournament, first world cup and to finish with figures of 2/4, I’m still pinching myself,” Nsubuga said during the mid-innings interview with the broadcasters. “You just enjoy yourself, you never know what’s coming for you. I’m looking after the young boys, they’re looking after me, so it’s been good understanding within the team that’s helping us."
“The ball wasn’t coming on and I bowled on the slower side. We needed to bowl wicket-to-wicket,” he added.
Nsubuga is also the oldest player in the T20 World Cup 2024.
