Ramayan actor Sunil Lahri calls Ayodhya people 'selfish' for 'betraying their king' in Lok Sabha elections: 'Shame on them'

Popular TV actor Sunil Lahri, who played the portrayal of Lakshman in Ramanand Sagar’s iconic serial Ramayan, has bashed Ayodhya citizens for electing Samajwadi Party candidate Awadhesh Prasad over BJP’s Lallu Singh in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

For the unversed, the Ram temple in Ayodhya was inaugurated in January under the leadership of the BJP.

Taking to Instagram stories, Sunil Lahri slammed Hindus in Ayodhya and wrote, “Hum yeh bhool gaye yeh wohi Ayodhyavaasi hai. Jinhone vanvaas se aane ke baad Sita mata par bhi sandeh kiya tha. (We are forgetting that these are the same Ayodhya citizens who doubted Goddess Sita after she returned from exile. What do you call the person who even denies God? Selfish. History stands proof that the citizens of Ayodhya always betrayed their king. Shame on them).”

In another Instagram story, he wrote, “We salute your greatness, dear citizens of Ayodhya, you are the ones who didn’t spare even Goddess Sita. We are not shocked that you betrayed the man who made sure that Lord Ram came out of that small tent and was installed in a beautiful temple. The entire nation will never see you with respect again.”

Yesterday, Anupam Kher also shared a cryptic note on his social media hinting at shocking results in UP for BJP. He wrote, “Kabhi kabhi sochta hoon ki imaandaar vyakti ko bahot zyada imaandaar nahi hona chahiye. Jungle mein seedhe tane wale ped he sabse pehle kaate jaate hai. Bahut zyada imaandaar vyakti ko he sabse zyada kasht uthane padte hai. Par phir bhi woh apni imaandaari nahi chhodta. Isliye karodo logo ke liye prerna ka stotra banta hai. (Sometimes I think an honest man shouldn’t be very honest. A tree with straight bark are often cut down first. The honest man has to bear most problems in life. Despite the hurdles, he doesn’t give up his honesty. That is why he is an inspiration to crores of people)”
